Do you have an old Class 2 or 3 mobility scooter or powerchair that you can't get rid of? Well now you can using our -
Equipment Disposal Service
In partnership with ILM Highland, a charity and social enterprise based in Alness with the aim of reducing waste and protecting the environment, City Mobility is pleased to be able to offer an Equipment Disposal Service for class 2 & 3 mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs. Unfortunately there is a cost to this service which involves collecting, dismantling and disposing of the component parts and this has to be passed to the service user. HMRC has confirmed the service is not eligible for VAT exemption so VAT is charged as part of the cost. The Service is currently offered across City Mobility's mainland dealership area.
In The Highland Council area there is, at the time of writing, no other way to dispose of a product safely and responsibly as you cannot currently take a product to a Recycling Centre, nor request a special collection to have it removed and disposed of. It is up to you to check with your Local Authority in case it is done differently in your area orThe Highland Council's position has changed.
More information on the classification (classes) of mobility products can be found on the .gov website here.
To discuss or book a collection for your class 2 or 3 mobility product please call City Mobility on 01463 250850 or 01224 452850.
