Short term mobility scooter and powerchair hire
We keep getting requests from customers and visitors to be able to hire mobility equipment so we are starting a small service to do just that. As demand grows so will what we can offer. But before you pay for hire please be aware as a visitor to the area some attractions have their own scooters to hire for free. If you are a day visitor to Inverness the charity Shopmobility in the Eastgate Shopping Centre can help with town centre hire for the day.
Our costs are below exclusive of insurance and refundable deposit (T&Cs apply). Short term hire insurance from Mark Bates Ltd must be purchased with us. This costs £12 for 1 week, or £20 for 2 weeks. For a longer term hire a bespoke quote can be provided. The maximum hire term including extensions is 88 days.
Hire costs
We reserve the right to refuse hire if the person using the hired scooter is deemed not competent or not suitable to use the product booked at time of hire. There is a £200 excluding VAT returnable deposit (returnable subject to the equipment being returned to us in the condition it was hired, any reparations will be deducted to the return amount).

Delivery/Collection Prices
Using google maps with the origination address being City Mobility, 46a Seafield Road, Inverness, IV1 1SG, add in the address the equipment is to be delivered to. Calculate the time from A to B, times by 4. Round it up to the nearest half hour and calculate £30 per half hour. This is the delivery and collection cost. This cost includes a handover of the product and demo for familiarisation purposes. Should our staff feel the user is not competent at using the equipment, or appears to be intoxicated or over the maximum user weight for the product as advised, we reserve the right to cancel the hire on site. The cost of hire and 50% of the delivery/collection fee will be refunded.
All our prices are quoted exclusive of VAT. to claim VAT relief on your order because of a long-term chronic/disabling condition you must complete our VAT Declaration. Please note old age" is not a qualifying condition for VAT relief. How to Hire
You must read our Standard Terms & Conditions for the Supply of Hire Equipment first. This forms part of the Contract of Hire.
When you come to collect the equipment you must bring with you photographic identification and something with your name and home address on it.
Payment
We take most debit and credit cards, cash and BACS. Please note, the time it takes for refunds to reach your account once processed by us is out of our control.
You will also be asked to sign this Hire declaration:
- I have read and agree to the Standard Terms & Conditions – Supply of Hire Equipment.
- I understand City Mobility cannot guarantee the provision of a requested Make of Model of equipment but will endeavour to provide a similar specification.
- I will not take the equipment out of the City Mobility dealership area without City Mobility’s permission.
- Where I am hiring a scooter to put in to a car boot I am sure I/or those accompanying me can lift this in; dismantle/build fold/unfold this safely and that the equipment can fit in the boot space without causing damage to the equipment or the car.
- I will not be taking the equipment on an aircraft.
- I understand the function of all controls of the equipment.
- I confirm the equipment will only be used on the terrain it is suitable for.
- I will not use the equipment in wet weather unless the control panel/joystick is covered with a protective cover (provided).
- I am aware that in some conditions I may be less visible to others and will take any necessary precautions to solve this such as, a hi-viz jacket or vest etc.
- I confirm I can see at least 12.3meters ahead and know of no reason why I would be considered unfit or incompetent to hire the Equipment.
- I confirm I can see obstacles/vehicles moving or static, kerbs and pedestrians (who must have priority).
- I confirm that I am not taking any medication that will affect my driving of the equipment.
- I confirm I will secure the equipment when not in use and comply with any other conditions required by the Insurer (see details in Summary of Cover).
- I confirm I will not go faster than 4mph on a pavement and am aware I must give pedestrians priority.
- I confirm if I am using a road legal product on the road I will follow the Highway Code.
