City Mobility has signed up to the Scottish Cycle Repair Scheme funded by the Scottish Government. Unlike most bike shops taking part in the scheme we are only providing this service for manual wheelchairs which are also included (because that's what we already specialise in!).
The Scotland Cycle Repair Scheme will help you get you mobile in your wheelchair again.
The coronavirus crisis has hit many people hard, so we know it can be difficult to pay for essential wheelchair repairs right now. If you need a helping hand to get your wheelchair into shape, this scheme provides free service, repair and maintenance work up to the value of £50.
Whether you’ve got an old wheelchair in the shed that needs attention, or the one you’re using requires some care, you can access a specialist mobility equipment engineer to get your wheelchair repaired and back in use. Electric Wheelchairs (powerchairs), rollators and mobility scooters are NOT eligible. Only individuals are eligible, not organisations, businesses or charities.
It’s a simple process – just contact us and get your repair booked in. And because we are mobile in the Highland, Moray, Aberdeen-shire and Aberdeen City Council areas we come to you.
The Scheme will only cover the first £50 of the repair which is good because that's our usual price for a wheelchair service (at our workshop), but we can also come to you. If your wheelchair needs parts you will need to pay for them yourself but you may be eligible for VAT exemption on these. You cannot get the parts yourself and have us fit them.
It is easy to book a service or repair just call us on 01463 250850 and selection the option for our "workshop". When you call we will need to take a note of your name, address, phone number and e-mail address (if you have one). It would be helpful if you could also tell us the make of your wheelchair if you know it, if you just want a general service or if you know of any issues with the chair in particular e.g. if you need replacement tyres we can attend to this in the same visit.
If we need to come back again to fit parts you may need to pay our standard rate for a second visit. Any parts will need to be paid for at the time of ordering them.
